Abstract Blue Light

VAPORIZATION UNIT

Vaporizer unit is mainly used to remove water  from liquid aqueous ammonia solution by vaporizing all pure ammonia and little of water to gas phase while the much of water left is removed from vaporizer unit in liquid phase so that only little of water and all pure ammonia in gas phase enter to the combustion reactor for combustion reaction.

Temperature: 76℃

Pressure: 800kPa

Combustion chamber is the first reactor of this entire process of which its main reactants are ammonia and oxygen. With the addition of the catalyst Platinum/Rhodium mixture. The product from this reaction consists of Nitric oxide and Water. The conversion of NH3 is 95%. The oxygen is supplied from the air compressor

Temperature: 890℃

Pressure: 800kPa

COMBUSTION UNIT

AIR COMPRESSOR UNIT

Air compressor function is to supply excess oxygen for the reaction in combustion unit, as well as filter out the compounds other than oxygen from making to the stream for the combustion unit, N2 of which then enter the effluent gas stream. The effluent gas stream also come from absorber tail gas product.

Temperature: 245℃

Pressure: 1000kPa

OXIDATION TOWER

Oxidation tower is where a mixture of preheated ammonia and air pass over a gauze catalyst composed of Platinum/Rhodium metals. At high temperatures and with the help of the catalyst.

Secondary air addition and oxidation where the exiting gas mixture from the reactor still contains unreacted ammonia and oxygen. To maximize nitric oxide production, a second stream of air is introduced, and the gas mixture is passed through a separate oxidation chamber.

Temperature: 50

Pressure: 800 kPa

Absorption
Column

In absorption column, there are two feed streams, (a gas feed and a liquid feed) which enters the absorption column. There are also comprises two product streams, one is liquid stream the other one is gas stream. In this column, there are two chemical reactions involved with respect to suitable pressure and temperature. The desired product is HNO3.
